During the life of the project a lot of documentation will already of been produced. This will include the design documents, diagrams and the requirement specification. The documentation phase of the lifecycle, therefore, may seem like it is embedded throughout the project. In truth the documentation phase is very much focused on documents which are going to be given to the customer as part of the final solution. This phase is interested in deliverable rather than standard documents.

There are two main documents which tend to be delivered as part of a system -

• User documentation
• Technical documentation
