Essentially you decide if the project will be able to comply with all the current laws which may effect it. File sharing software, although legal in essence, does have some things they need to decide. Napster, one of the first and most popular, was shut down for a long time as the courts decided that they could do more to protect copyright. They then released a paid service which did not do very well as they had already lost most of their user base to competitors.

 

Legal feasibility needs to be taken very seriously as the effects can be potentially very damaging. The fines which can be imposed if the software does not comply can range in the millions. Also some countries could ban the use of the software completely if it does not comply with their laws.
