Installation planning

Once a system has been produced it must then be installed. The average user sees installation as running a simple wizard on their PC. This sadly is not always possible and for normal buissness software would not be desirable. Consider the amount of diversity from one company to the next. There is no way of being able automate configuartion of software without some indepth knowledge of the company in general. In fact there is a lot of things which needs to be considered when new software is to be installed -

• Method of change over
• New hardware install
• Training
• Configuartion of servers / software
• Furniture and fitting hardware.

When purcahsing a multi-million dollar system it is not good enough to leave any of the above to chance. Most of it will be contracted and documented so both parties know exactly what is going to be delivered. This document will vary from company to company but will always include the above information.
