CPU- Central Processing Unit

Is the heart of the computer. CPU stands for central processing unit. It runs the software of the system. It receives instructions in the form of a special code known as machine code, and will execute those instructions. Software, such as Notepad, will be run as a sequence of machine code instructions. The image to the right shows what a standard CPU looks like.

CPU’s come in many different shapes and sizes. They come in different speeds and also different abilities. However a CPU always contains a number of specific parts.
